Rosholt Field Day Set for August 21: Explore Irrigation Innovation and Soil Health

The upcoming Rosholt Field Day is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Rosholt Research Farm, located at 910 Old Hwy 28, Westport, MN 56385. This free event offers a valuable opportunity to explore current research and field demonstrations related to irrigation efficiency, nitrogen management, and soil health in Minnesota cropping systems.

Lunch is included, and participants are encouraged to register by August 13.

The event will feature presentations and in-field demonstrations on a variety of topics, including:

  • Nitrogen use in irrigated corn with cover crops
  • Efficient irrigation and nitrogen management strategies
  • Soil moisture sensor probes, variable rate irrigation, and nitrogen probe technologies
  • Soil health programs and best practices
  • Drone cover crop seeding demonstration

These agenda topics reflect the increasing focus on sustainable irrigation practices and technologies that improve nutrient use efficiency while supporting soil and water conservation goals.

The Rosholt Field Day is made possible through funding from the Clean Water Fund, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Fertilizer Research and Education Council (AFREC), and the Minnesota Office for Soil Health. It is organized in partnership with Pope Soil and Water Conservation District, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, University of Minnesota Extension, and Stearns County SWCD.
