IAM coordinates farm tours each summer to educate legislators about irrigation and to provide information on the economic and political implications, conservation practices and production benefits of irrigation for the state of Minnesota. Our goal is to inform lawmakers about irrigation best practices and the nees of farmers in order to develop balanced legislation that protects water as well as Minnesota farmers and food production. These events work to build positive relationships with legislators for more open dialogue about policy.
Farmers irrigate more than 500,000 acres across Minnesota and they are doing it smarter every year.
