Congratulations to Kaitlyn Lorang of Morton, MN and Lafe Aarsvold of Tracy, MN, recipients of the annual Alan Peterson Agricultural Scholarship.
Kaitlyn is a 2020 graduate of Cedar Mountain High School in Morgan and is attending South Dakota State University with a major in Agricultural Communications and minors in Agronomy and Crop Protection. Her goal is to work as a soil conservationist with Natural Resources Conservation Service. The former 4-H and FFA member is looking forward to sharing and explaining the practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of soil, water, and environmental conservation as they relate to agricultural operations and land use measures.
Lafe is a 2019 graduate of Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School in Plainview and is attending Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall studying Agronomy. After graduation, he plans to research corn hybrids and start a breeding program to bring new genetics into the corn industry. Another of his goals is to breed in genetics that will reduce the need for nutrient supplements such as nitrogen. Following his research, Lafe would like to return closer to home where he would like to enter agronomy sales to help farmers and growers with their crops and in life.
